GRAND AVENUE BRIDGE CLOSED DUE TO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS

(New Haven, CT) – The Grand Avenue Bridge is closed and will remain closed until 6 pm this evening (Monday, July 08, 2013) as a result of mechanical and electrical problems caused by the excessive heat.

From 6pm this evening until 8 am tomorrow morning (Tuesday, July 9th), the bridge will be opened. After 8am, the bridge will be closed for an undetermined length of time in order to allow for in-depth inspection and repair.

Alternative routes:

If traveling east on Grand Avenue: take a left onto Front Street, a right onto Middletown Avenue to Foxon Boulevard, take right onto Quinnipiac Avenue.

If traveling west on East Grand: take a left onto Quinnipiac Avenue, right onto East Ferry Street, to Ferry Street, left onto Grand Avenue.
